1. Tell me about yourself?

The question should never be answered by giving personal information or describing your hobbies or interests. Since you are appearing for a job interview it’s good to describe yourself relating to a work situation. Provide details of your work experience including major career achievements. The answer can be well supplemented with your educational accomplishments as well. After this if you wish to then give a brief about your hobbies and interests.

 

2. What are your strengths and weaknesses?

The answer to this question should never only be a positive for strength and a negative for weakness. The answer should always be in a positive tone for either of the two cases. The strengths that you talk about should be beneficial in accomplishing the job offered to you. Never talk of personality defects while telling your weakness. The answer should be molded in such a way that it reflects how you overcame you weakness.

 

3. How will you deal with conflict or criticism?

The answer to such question should never be very subjective. Try explaining it with an example from your work experience. You can always describe a situation where you were successful in resolving a conflict or handling criticism. This would give a better picture of the way you would handle negative situations in future.

 

4. How do you manage stress in your daily work?
   You can describe a situation of how you had managed stress in your previous work if you had one or narrate how you can find time in your busy schedule to relax a bit.

 

5. Where do you see yourself five years down the line?

While answering this question talk of career aspirations which are realistic and attainable in a span of five years.  One can also discuss about the steps they intend to take to achieve these goals. This would show how focused you are in achieving your goals.

 

6. Why do you know about our company?

The answer to this question should be prepared well in advance. Start by giving a brief about what you know about the company. Before answering always get the facts and figures correct and never argue with the interviewer.  Always be open to corrections as this would reflect your learning attitude.

 

7. Why do you want to join this company?

While answering this question specify what interests you about the industry or the field the particular company is into. Also talk about how you could contribute to the company’s growth in the near future. Talk of the skills that you would bring in and how they would contribute to the vision and mission of the company.

 

 

8. What are your salary expectations?

Prior to answering this question do a extensive research of the industry standards for employees in similar job roles. This would provide you a fare idea so as to how much you can negotiate for.  As a rule of thumb always give an approximate figure so that there is further room for negotiation. This reflects your flexibility. Never discuss about salary unless you are asked to do so.

9. Why did you leave the previous job?

Do not answer this question in a negative tone even if it happens to be true. Your answer should reflect why you intend to join the targeted company. Talking negatively about the previous organization gives a very bad impression. Better answer would be to say that you wanted to take on further challenges in your career.

 

10. Do you have any queries?

It’s good to enquire about the job role or organization. This reflects your willingness and enthusiasm to join the firm. Last but not the least always remember every interview is as unique as the last one. Always go with a positive mind set and be prepared to face any kind of question. There are not set questions for an interview and the above questions only serve as a guide line.
